By now you should realize that according to God's Word you are not a good person. People that lie are called liars. People that steal are called thieves. Children that disobey their parents are rebels. Of course this is just a sampling of the list above. God tells us that to disobey one commandment we are guilty as transgressors against His whole law.
To top it all off the Bible teaches that even if you had never broken any of God's commandments you would be a sinner by birth (Rom 5:12). This is why you must be born again (Jn 3:3, 7). Jesus taught of the new birth that is required to be saved. The new birth is not by baptism, or by church membership. It is not by being a good person. The Bible says, there is none good except God. " There is none righteous, no not one." Being born again is what God does when we trust in Him for salvation, we are "quickened" (brought to life) by the Spirit of God (Eph 2). He gives us new life, eternal life (Jn 3:16)
God must judge sin. He is holy and just. Even in our world system we expect murderers, thieves, and purjerers (liars) to be punished. If an earthly judge let crooks off we would call him corrupt. If God did not judge sin He would be unrighteous. God has judged sin already. He did this by allowing His only begotten Son, Jesus, to be crucified as a sinner even though He was sinless. By this Jesus satisfied God's justice system. God has demonstrated to us how much He loves us "in that Christ died for us". Next, God showed He has power to give eternal life by raising Jesus up from the grave.
The next move is yours. You can reject God's love and face His wrath and eternal judgement in the lake of fire spoken of in Revelation; or you can accept God's provision by faith and receive eternal life. The Bible says, "God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." Repent of your sins. Confess them to God and ask for mercy. He wants you to be saved. Trust in Him and Him alone and He will save you.
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
